Rhino Lodge

Located at the edge of Ngorongoro crater rim, this eco lodge was originally the home of Ngorongoro’s first conservator thus exuding an old rustic charm. There is a main building surrounded by guest rooms on both sides. The dining area with its bar offers delicious meals and beverages with two large fireplaces where guests can relax while enjoying traditional Maasai entertainment programs. There is also a gift shop to buy souvenirs for loved ones.

In addition to park fees of Ngorongoro national park, a statutory fees (Concession fees) of $59 per person per night will be applicable for staying at this accommodation.

The lodge is close to the main entrance and road descending into the crater floor.

Double, twin and triple accommodations are available.

There are 24 rooms decorated with Maasai blankets adding vibrant colours to the whitewashed walls. These consist of clean and comfortable beds with wood burning stove and hot water to keep you warm at night, en-suite bathroom facilities such as hot water shower and a wooden deck with wonderful views.

The lodge does not overlook the crater floor but offers amazing views of the surrounding forest areas which goes beyond the grassland, especially from the wooden deck areas. You will also get distant views of Mt Oldeani. You might find wild animals such as elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hyenas in the lawn.

Good - You are in the middle of wilderness and have wildlife coming very close to camp and you might get to see wildlife from your rooms/campgrounds and most likely you can hear wildlife through the night.
