Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge

The tented lodge sits right next to Ngorongoro forest area on 15 acres of land planted with various indigenous species of flora. As you enter, you see white thorn acacia trees as well as trees of guava, mango and other fruit trees standing tall amidst them. This naturally attracts several species of birds such as the African Harrier-Hawk, White-tailed Blue-flycatcher and animals such as baboons, dik-diks, blue monkeys and bushbucks. The dining area and lounge has been created using wooden logs to give a cabin-like feel. You may enjoy your drinks, meals or grab a book to read. Post dinner, you can sit around a campfire and watch the local Irawq tribe dance. The view-point banda used by honeymooners for private dining is much loved by guests. There is also a spa, swimming pool & jacuzzi for rejuvenation.

Located on top of a valley near Ayalbe village, the lodge is 20 minutes away from Karatu main town and 10 miles from Lake Manyara airport. The lodge conveniently sits close to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Manyara National Park.

There are 12 canvas tents placed under a canopy of acacia as well as other indigenous trees, all connected by a wooden walkway. There is a comfortable bed with clean linens, mosquito nets, blankets, classic interior furnishings, en-suite facilities such as a toilet, basin and shower. Some suites have outdoor showers as well. The best part about these tents are the private verandas with wonderful views.

The lodge offers amazing views of the valley, especially from the private verandas and terrace in the dining area. The property itself is home to several species of trees, birds and animals as mentioned above. In addition, you can often hear bush babies, hyenas and several species of insects from the nearby forest region.

Good - You are in the middle of wilderness and have wildlife coming very close to camp and you might get to see wildlife from your rooms/campgrounds and most likely you can hear wildlife through the night.
