An absolutely incredible experience. We saw the Big Five, Super Seven and beautiful landscapes. We booked a private guided tour with mid-range hotels and it definitely did not disappoint. Working with Monkey, you can tailor your trip as much as you want. They are easy to contact via email and WhatsApp to make sure you can coordinate your trip and they sat down with us before and after the safari to make sure they could make it the best trip possible. I would have tailored our trip more if I knew better. We spent nights at Eileen's Tree Inn and Tortillas Tented Camp which were both really great. Then we stayed at Rhino Lodge which had a nice dining area but I didn't care for the location or rooms very much. I would have tried to upgrade to one of the lodges at the top of the crater. The crater is amazingly beautiful and it would have been so much better to have stayed closer. We had a 3 day private safari with them and they had gotten Banana as our guide. What a guy! He did the best and most he could to make every minute count when in the Serengeti. He was very knowledgeable about more than just animals including birds and plants.

We booked a private safari through Monkey Adventures for 2 persons, 7 days. Locations were Tarangire, Ndutu, Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro. Overnight stays in lodges and camps, medium class.

We did the safari after a 6 days safari in Uganda, which we also booked through Monkey Adventures and which we reviewed separately (Monkey Adventures Uganda).

The booking process was handled very well by Monkey Adventures. All our questions were answered quickly by email. The proposed schedule worked out very well.

Our guide for the whole trip was Banana. We were so happy to have such an amazing guide. First and foremost, Banana is an excellent driver and made us feel very safe during transfers and game drives. He has excellent knowledge of the parks and knows how to handle difficult terrains. We really learned to appreciate Banana’s driving skills when, while game driving, we saw other jeeps who got lost, while other ended up stuck in thick mud.

Banana’s knowledge of the fauna is excellent. He knew 99% of the animal’s names, including birds. For the remaining 1% he didn’t remember he was able to find it out using a book. He also knows a lot about the behavior of the animals. Most importantly, he constantly shared the information with us and we could really tell he is very passionate about his job.

The vehicle was a jeep with a capacity of up to 7 passengers, although we travelled as a couple. This meant a lot of extra room which proved precious during game drives. We could easily stand and walk around while trying to shoot that perfect picture. The jeep was in very good conditions.

Lodges met our expectations overall.

We were all ladies on the trip, so we were looking for a reliable tour operator. And I can already say that our expectations were exceeded. Monkey adventures are true professionals. I have worked in the tourism industry, so I have dealt with many tour operators and travelled extensively, but I have rarely seen such a high level of service. Everything was perfect: the presentation of information and communication by e-mail before the trip, the itinerary, the hotels we stayed in, the guide.

The guide, Elias, was of course the main contributor to the success of our trip and the impressions we had. He is like an encyclopaedia of nature and wildlife, who has a great knowledge of animal behaviour and was able to show us the Big Five!
