Volcanoes National Park

In April, Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda typically experiences wet weather as it falls within the rainy season. Historical averages indicate that temperatures usually range from about 10°C (50°F) at night to around 20°C (68°F) during the day. Rainfall is quite common, with April averaging around 200-250 mm (8-10 inches) of precipitation. The park’s lush vegetation is dramatically enhanced during this time, making it a vibrant season for trekking and wildlife viewing, especially for observing the famous mountain gorillas. However, visitors should be prepared for muddy trails and cooler temperatures, particularly in the higher elevations.

Lake Kivu

In April, Lake Kivu, Rwanda typically experiences a wet season, characterized by higher humidity and frequent rainfall. Historical averages show that temperatures usually range from about 18°C (64°F) at night to around 25°C (77°F) during the day. Rainfall is common, with April averaging around 150-200 mm (6-8 inches) over the month, making it one of the wetter months of the year. Cloud cover is also prevalent, and while the rains may be heavy at times, there can still be periods of sunshine throughout the day.
