Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge

Bordering Ngorongoro crater, the tented lodge is nestled atop a hill in the Northern Safari Circuit. It has been built in authentic African style using local hardwood. There are individual tents with en-suite facilities, an open dining area, fireplace, swimming pool and a well equipped conference room with flipchart and beamer. There is a bakery where fresh bread is baked every day. Even the butter is churned from the milk produced by their own cows. The dishes are prepared using ingredients from their organic garden making it healthy and delicious. It is to be noted that there is a Children’s Home on the opposite hill which you can visit. Its aim is to support the children of Rhotia. A part of the revenue produced by the establishment is used for their well being, hence their motto ‘Two hills one goal’!

Located in a rural area named Rhotia, the tented lodge is just 30 minutes drive from Karatu town. Parks like Lake Manyara, Tarangire and Serengeti are easily accessible.

There are 15 spacious rooms with a clean comfortable king-sized bed, mosquito net, en-suite facilities like a toilet, hot/cold water, shower, housekeeping service and a private veranda which offers spectacular views.

There are twin/double beds, family rooms and honeymoon tents available.

The property offers amazing views of the valley and the forest in Ngorongoro rim. You will also see Lake Manyara at a distance. This can be enjoyed especially from your own private balcony where you will get spectacular views of sunrise and sunset. You may sometimes get a glimpse of elephants down below or hear baboons, civets and bush babies in the night. Similar to the swimming pool area, the communal area with its fireplace also offers expansive views. The organic garden on site has its own vibrant beauty altogether.

Moderate - You are still in the wilderness but the amount of wildlife around the camp is not quite high and you might not get to hear them through the night on all days.

The food has been rated well by most clients. The dishes are prepared using local organic ingredients.
