Amboseli Sopa Lodge

Set inside 200 acres of private land, Amboseli Sopa Lodge is a rustic lodge nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest and most popular snow-capped mountain. Ernest Hemingway’s two unforgettable stories ‘The Short, Happy Life of Francis Macomber’ and ‘The Snows of Kilimanjaro’ were inspired in this region. These were later turned into feature films in the late 40's. Characterized by renowned actors of the time, the films were more than successful. Encapsulated by several forms of wildlife, Amboseli National Park is about twenty minutes drive away from the lodge.

The lodge is just 20 minutes south of Amboseli National Park.

There are 83 rooms offering clean & comfortable beddings, en-suite bathrooms, seating area and a private veranda. The interiors have been decorated with Maasai themed murals.

There are 40 rooms with two queen beds of which 6 have interconnecting doors and 24 rooms can be turned into triple accommodations.

21 rooms have king-sized beds of which 2 rooms are designed for specially challenged and 1 room is a honeymoon suite.

22 rooms have one queen-sized bed.

The lodge offers wonderful views of Mt Kilimanjaro from its grounds. You will also find beautiful plants and flowers inside the property; fragrant Frangipanis, thorn trees, giant cacti and colorful bougainvillea to name a few.

You might catch glimpses of guinea fowl, monkeys, hyrax, mongoose, baboons and odd cats.

Good - You are in the middle of wilderness and have wildlife coming very close to camp and you might get to see wildlife from your rooms/campgrounds and most likely you can hear wildlife through the night.
