FAQs for Tarangire

1. What is the entry fee of the park? The park fee is 59$ per adult per day. Your entry fee remains valid for the next 24 hours. In addition, it will also expire if you exit the park before 24 hours are up.

2. How many days do you suggest for Tarangire during the dry season? Clients may choose to stay inside or outside of the park. For both of them we would recommend two full days of safari. For those who are bird watchers we would also recommend a third day so that they could get a good look at the wildlife along with the birds.

It is possible to explore the park within a day as well, although such a tour will feel rushed.

3. How many days do you suggest for Tarangire during the wet season? For clients visiting the park during the wet season we would recommend spending only one day at the park as the animals will have migrated and there won’t be much wildlife to look at. This applies to clients who are interested in bird watching as well.

4. If clients have only 1 day at Tarangire, then where do they go for game drives? Clients will be able to visit all the important spots like the swamps, the woodlands, the river etcetera but it will be a little rushed and we would also recommend clients to start around 6 a.m. in the morning.

However, if clients have only a day but don't want things to be rushed, they can choose to ask the rangers and the guides where the wildlife would be present and only explore those locations.

5. Where can clients go on their second day at Tarangire? If the clients do get a second day, then on day one they can choose to patrol the northern part of the river, visit the Matete woodlands, and the northern and the central part of the park.

On day two they can explore the southern part of the park including Kitibong Hill. The game drive will be able to go at a slower, more professional pace with a second day at hand.

6. What are some of the activities that I can enjoy in Tarangire? Besides Game Drives, you can engage in Hot Air Balloon Safaris, Walking Safaris, and Night Game Drives in Tarangire. Walking Safaris and Night Game Drives are organised by select accommodations inside the park, so if you wish to do those activities, you will be required to stay at an accommodation that conducts those activities.

8. Advantages of selecting an accommodation inside Tarangire for overnight stay?

Staying at accommodations inside the parks gives you the opportunity to book night game drives. Select few lodges inside the park organise night game drives, whereas none of the lodges outside the park conduct night game drives. Further, if you are staying inside you will be able to spend more time in the wilderness. Most of the lodges are located in the areas where there is a concentration of wildlife. So you’ll spot animals as soon as you start driving or maybe even from your windows. An antelope or two might accompany you while you are on your way to the dining area. And at night you will be able to hear the sounds of the animals and birds. A roar of a lion or a cry of a hyena. There will be a closer interaction with nature.

If you are staying outside you won’t be able to hear the animals at night, and you won’t be spotting animals as soon as you begin the safari. The park gates are located a bit far from the areas that have wildlife. Plus you will be spending 15-20 minutes at the gate because of the paperwork as well. You won’t have to face this if you are staying inside the park.
