The temperatures go as high as 29°C / 82°F and go as low as 16°C / 59°F.

You can pack clothes such as regular T-shirts, trousers, or joggers for day time and something warmer such as a fleece jacket or a pullover for night time. In addition, packing a rain jacket and an umbrella would also be a good idea. In addition, carry shoes that dry faster and plastic or rubber sandals with proper traction.

2. Does it rain a lot in March? In the beginning of the month the downpours are usually less however it remains cloudy and humid. Towards the end of the month the frequency of rains increases. Showers mostly take place at night, however, there is a likelihood of them occurring for a couple of hours during day as well.

3. How does the rain affect the accessibility of roads and parks? As the frequency of rains increases, some roads may become too muddy or get flooded with water, and hence become inaccessible. Although, your driver will be well experienced and know which roads to use and which to avoid.

Birding remains great during this time as many birds travel to Tanzania in search of water. You can find hoopoes, hornbills, steppe hawks, flycatchers, buzzards, and so many more.

March is also a great month for those who are more interested in natural scenic beauty than wildlife. With the increased rains, the wild areas of Tanzania will be covered in thick foliage, heavy canopies and waves of shades of green. It will be a sight to behold for those who enjoy admiring nature.

Lastly, if you’re someone who doesn't like crowds at all, then once again March might be a good time to visit. Since the crowd will be thin, your driver will be able to get you closer to herds once you spot them, and get the opportunity to admire the animals from a less distance which might be possible during other seasons.

5. Do I need to be worried about the TseTse flies? Yes, as the rains increase, so do the Tse Tse flies and mosquitoes. It is best to come prepared with light coloured clothing, insect repellents, creams, bands, etc. You can also request such items and a mosquito net from your lodge.

6. Is there any special event that you would recommend seeing during this month? You may travel to Serengeti to witness the last few days of calving and spot the b young ones that had taken birth a few weeks prior engaged in their antics, tottering behind their mothers, and developing their instincts.

For those who enjoy birding, you may head to Tarangire, Ngorongoro, Lake Natron and such spots to catch a glimpse of migratory birds showcasing their colourful plumage and building nests.

7. Will the rains impact any activities? Yes, the rains are likely to impact activities such as Hot Air Balloon Rides, Night Game Drives, and Walking Safaris.

8. What is the wildlife visibility like during this month? Due to thick foliage and presence of watering holes in multiple locations, wildlife visibility will not be great. You will have to spend more time searching for the animals. However, once you do find them, you will be able to get much closer to them than you could during other seasons.
