1. What is the estimated number of herbivores involved in the Great Migration during this period? The migration is composed of over a million herbivores.

2. Are there any other notable wildlife species that can be seen apart from the migrating herds? Besides the notable Wildebeests, the Migration itself is also composed of Zebras and Thomson’s Gazelles. In addition, in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu region itself you will be able to spot countless iconic species like giraffes, elephants, buffalos, hartebeests, impalas, hyenas, cheetahs, lions and more.

3. What is the weather like in Northern and Eastern Serengeti during the Great Migration period? November to December is the season of Short Rains. It will be humid but you will come across about only two to three thunderstorms every day. Most of the rain will occur at night so you wouldn’t need to worry a lot about rains impeding your tour.

The greenery of the parks will bounce back and the roads won’t be dry and dusty anymore.

4. Can you provide more information about the accommodations available in the area during this time? Yes, there are various camps and lodges available in the area during this time to suit different budgets, such as Lobo Wildlife Lodge, Mawe Camp, Sametu Camp, Lemala Nanyukie and more.

5. What is the recommended duration of stay to witness the different stages of the Great Migration? We would recommend staying at least two to three days in this region to witness the best of river crossings, enjoy game drives, and engage in activities such as hot air balloon rides, walking safaris, and more.

6. Where would you recommend staying to maximise the chances of spotting the Great Migration? To get a view of as many Migration animals as possible, in November we would recommend staying in the Lobo region in the North. You have the option of staying at Lobo Wildlife Lodge and Elewana Serengeti Camp.

In December we would recommend staying at one of the accommodations in the Eastern region of Serengeti as the herds move southwards and reach the Eastern section by this time. You can stay at accommodations such as Sametu Camp, Mawe Camp, Lemala Nanyukie, and Namiri Plains.
