Basic Camping Packages

Below are packages with basic camping for your tour, starting on December 05, 2025, in a group of two adults . On basic camping tours, you sleep in small dome tents that are pitched at campsites & bathrooms are shared. A cook travels with you & prepares meals.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arusha to Tarangire

Pick up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. Tanzania’s third largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you.

Day 2 - Tarangire

Your day will begin after a breakfast by about 8AM with a full day game drive in Tarangire National Park ahead of you. The national park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny. The game drive goes on till about late afternoon and includes a small stop for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 Sq Kms park gets its name from the Tarangire river that flows through it. The river attracts a lot of diverse animals and you should be able to spot a lot of elephants, giraffe, lions, antelopes and zebras. If it’s your lucky day, you might be able to spot the tree climbing python and the long necked Gerek. The Tarangire National Park has the highest concentration of elephants, which offers a unique chance for you to observe interactions between elephant families. Don’t forget to capture this beautiful scenery with your camera ready at hand. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you. Have a good night’s sleep for tomorrow's adventure.

Day 3 - Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 Hours) to Arusha

On the last day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. The African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions are found in plenty. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. This is the last leg of your safari, with a 4hr drive left to Arusha. You will be dropped off to your preferred location in Arusha by 6:00 PM in the evening. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.

Karatu

In December, Karatu, Tanzania typically experiences warm and wet weather. The average high temperature is around 26-28°C (79-82°F), while the average low temperature is about 15-18°C (59-64°F). December falls within the short rainy season in this region, so you can expect increased humidity and frequent rainfall, often in the form of afternoon showers. On average, December can see around 100-150 mm of rainfall throughout the month. Overall, it’s a lush and green time of year due to the precipitation.

Tarangire

In December, Tarangire, Tanzania typically experiences warm weather as it is part of the wet season. Average daytime temperatures usually range from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F). Nighttime temperatures are cooler, averaging around 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F).

December sees a significant increase in rainfall compared to the preceding months, with average rainfall amounts around 100mm to 150mm (approximately 4 to 6 inches). Additionally, you can expect a mix of sunny and cloudy days, with thunderstorms becoming more common as the month progresses. The lush landscape created by the rains makes this a vibrant time for wildlife and plant life in the area.

Ngorongoro

In December, Ngorongoro, Tanzania typically experiences warm and humid weather. Average daytime temperatures usually range from 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F), while nighttime temperatures can drop to around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F).

December is part of the short rainy season, so you can expect some rainfall, with averages ranging from 60mm to 120mm over the month. Cloud cover can be more prevalent, and there may be occasional thunderstorms. Overall, December can be a lush and vibrant time to visit, as the landscape is often green and teeming with wildlife.
