This itinerary includes Nyerere National Park (2N), renowned for boat safaris, walking safaris, and large populations of elephants, lions, and hippos in a vast, uncrowded wilderness; Mikumi National Park(3N), often called a mini-Serengeti, known for easy-access game drives with lions, giraffes, and buffalo; Ruaha National Park(3N), celebrated for its rugged landscapes, high density of lions, and rare sightings of wild dogs and sable antelope; and Udzungwa Mountains, unique for rainforest treks and sightings of endemic primates, before returning back to Dar es Salaam.

Itinerary


Dar es Salaam to Nyerere (Boat Safari in the afternoon)

Your safari kicks off in the morning as you depart from your hotel in Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, you will embark on a relaxing afternoon boat trip along the Rufiji River. This leisurely journey offers a chance to admire the scenic river views and observe hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. The tranquil experience is enhanced by the beautiful sunset as you cruise along the river, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Day 2: Nyerere. Full-day game drives.

Enjoy a full-day game drive in Nyerere National Park with an experienced safari guide highlighting unique animal species such as wild dogs, sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, and more. Keep an eye out for Nile crocodiles and hippos near the Rufiji River, as well as Cape buffalos, hartebeests, and elands. Pause for a picnic lunch in the wilderness before returning to the camp for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Nyerere (Walking Safari in the morning) to Mikumi.

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast at the camp before embarking on a sunrise bush walking tour..These walks offer a unique opportunity to appreciate nature up close and discover the smaller species and the surrounding bush environment. Enjoy a peaceful exploration of the natural reserve during the 2-3 hour walk and transfer to Mikumi National Park with lunch on the way. Head to the accommodation for a night’s sleep at Mikumi.

Day 4: Morning game drives at Mikumi and transfer to Udzungwa mountains. Hike to Sanje waterfalls (3-4 hours)

After morning game drives in Mikumi, start the journey to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Hike to the Sanje Waterfalls, the highest waterfall in the Udzungwa mountains. Take a refreshing dip in the pools of the waterfalls and lookout for birds and animals in this unique wild habitat. Baboons and vervet monkeys are often seen and encounter of amphibians, birds might be possible. Overnight stay at Udzungwa.

Day 5: Udzungwa Mountains to Ruaha

Day 6: Ruaha. Full day game drives

Full day game drives at Ruaha to explore the beautiful of the park, with its full of rocky, kopjes and ancient baobab trees.

Day 7: Ruaha. Full day game drives

Enjoy a full day of game drives at Ruaha National Park, exploring the savannahs and woodlands in search of wildlife like elephants, lions, and giraffes. With a guide to lead the way, you'll have the chance to see nature up close and capture memorable moments with your camera. It's a great way to experience the beauty of the park and its inhabitants.

Day 8: Ruaha walking tour (2 hours) and transfer to Mikumi.

A walking tour in Ruaha National Park offers a unique and immersive experience in Tanzania's largest national park. Unlike traditional game drives, where you observe wildlife from the comfort of a vehicle, a walking safari allows you to explore the bush on foot, accompanied by a trained and knowledgeable guide.

During the walking tour, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate the smaller details of the ecosystem, such as animal tracks, bird calls, and the diverse plant life. Your guide will provide insights into the park's ecology, animal behavior, and conservation efforts, offering a deeper understanding of the natural world. Back to Mikumi for an overnight stay.
