Why Should You Get An East Africa Tourist Visa?

The East Africa Tourist Visa is a convenient travel document that grants you the freedom to explore Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda with ease. By obtaining this single visa, you can enjoy multiple entries into these countries, allowing for seamless movement and hassle-free travel. This initiative was collaboratively undertaken by the Heads of States of these partner countries, as they wanted to unlock opportunities for tourists to immerse themselves in East Africa's landscapes, cultures, and experiences.

It is easier to apply for this Visa and it will also cost much less than the separate visas that you may otherwise get for an East African tour.

Eligibility

Foreign tourists who wish to explore the Republic of Kenya, Republic of Rwanda, and Republic of Uganda all at once for tourism purposes can apply for the East Africa Tourist Visa. This visa can be obtained from the diplomatic representations of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, from the immigration offices of these respective countries, and you can apply for them online as well.

Once obtained, the visa remains valid for 90 days.

Where Should I Apply For An East Africa Visa?

To get an East Africa Visa you may head to the online visa application system of the country from where you will be starting the East African Tour and apply for a visa. For instance, if your tour starts from Rwanda, then you may head to the Rwanda Online Visa Application System and select East Africa Tourist Visa while selecting the type.

It is extremely important that you only get this visa from the country that will be your entry point for the tour.

Cost

An East Africa Tourist Visa costs USD 100. This would prove cost effective for those wanting to visit all the aforementioned East African countries at the same time as a separate single entry tourist Visa for these countries costs USD 50.

Yellow Fever Vaccination

Yellow Fever Vaccination requirement for Kenya and Tanzania: A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers 1 year of age and older coming from - or who are in airport transit for more than 12 hours from below countries:

AFRICA - Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Sudan, Togo, Uganda.

AMERICAS - Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela.

Yellow Fever Vaccination is required for Uganda for travelers from all countries if traveler is ≥1 year of age.

For cross country itineraries that start from Kenya or Uganda and proceeding to Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda Yellow Fever vaccination is required (Since Kenya/Uganda are endemic countries).

Additionally, the country you will be entering after your trip to Kenya or Uganda, might need a Yellow Fever vaccination card and/or Oral Polio vaccination certificate (India, for example).
